STYLIANOS ZANNETOS

Nature is a world of wonders, and I am fortunate to have found my calling in exploring it. As a forestry student, my love for birdwatching and photography ignited a fire within me that led me to discover some of the most beautiful landscapes in Greece and Cyprus. As my passion grew, so did my experience and expertise. Today, I am pursuing my PhD on small mammals in Lesvos and offering my skills as a field researcher and environmental consultant to companies throughout Greece and Europe. My hobbies in nature photography and bird ringing have not only brought me endless joy but also provided me with valuable insights into the intricacies of the natural world. As I look toward the future, I am confident in my abilities and hopeful to establish my own wildlife guide business. I aspire to inspire others who share my love for nature and encourage them to pursue their dreams as I have.

ELENI GALINOU

The story of Eleni is truly inspiring! She discovered her love for birdwatching in college when she met Professor T. Akriotis. From then on, she has dedicated her life to this fascinating hobby and even made it her profession. Her passion for birdwatching and introducing people to it is truly remarkable. She did not stop at volunteering and researching at the Department of Environmental Science at the Aegean University but also dedicated her time to freelance work, bird surveys and projects around Greece and Cyprus. Not only that, Eleni is also a nature explorer who takes time to appreciate and explore wildlife on Lesvos in her free time. Her lovely organic garden, cool books, and cuddles with her cats add more charm to her already fantastic life. Most importantly, Eleni is a loving mom to her two boys – a true inspiration to all aspiring birdwatchers!

We were very lucky to be guided around by Stelios from Aegean Birding, who was recommended to us by Eleni Galinou. His knowledge of the birds of Lesvos was superb, but it was where to find them and when that he excelled. We wanted to see a Golden Oriole; he found three. Short-toed Eagle? Stelios found us one eating a huge snake in mid-air.Rock Nuthatch? He found us not one, but several families of 6-8 birds. And so on and so on. He was also very good company to be with on our days out. Highly recommended.

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT US

I arranged a 3 full day birding trip middle of may 2024 with Stylianos at Lesvos Island to especially see the special species. We managed to see over 120 different species, including all the birds I had in my priority list. Stylianos is not only an excellent guide with very profound knowledge of birds, he is also a very friendly and welcoming person. I really enjoyed the 3 days and it will definitely not be the last time I have been there. Here are some more information about the admistrative topics: he reacted very quickly to e-mails, he was also reacted very open and flexibel to specific needs. The trip itself was very well planned, the locations were chosen perfectly to see the birds.
